1.) Find purpose
Aka find meaning. Purpose makes us neurologically more resilient. It increases dopamine (our motivator) by encouraging us to act. A great purpose is to help others! Humans have an inherent desire to be a part of something greater than ourselves. In fact, our brains are hardwired for contribution! Start by practicing your impact on the collective. Garnering a sense of purpose will also foster your self-worth!
2.) Learn from the past
Hindsight is 20/20. You may find the answers to effectively responding to new difficult situations in your personal timeline. By reflecting on the past, we can turn mistakes into valuable life lessons. Who or what was helpful in previous times of distress? Remind yourself of former sources of strength. Don’t be afraid of asking yourself difficult questions, like what you could have done better last time? Our experiences provide us with roadmaps to wisely navigate the future!
